On-line and off-line coal quality measurements can generate significant economic benefits for power plants and mines.

Magneflow® products
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) instruments provide valuable BTU and moisture content data that can be used to improve efficiency and recovery in a variety of coal applications.

MagModule II—on-line coal quality analyzer automatically samples and measures coal flowing to coal-fired burners. BTU and moisture analysis can be used for real-time combustion optimization. With the increased use of lower quality coals and blends, coal quality analysis is more important than ever.

MagStation II—off-line NMR system provides BTU and moisture content measurements in a matter of minutes with little or no sample preparation. As advances in technologies and government regulations allow for more economical recovery of waste (Gob) coal, rapid measurement of coal piles becomes necessary. The MagStation II is easy to set up and requires minimal operator training.

iPulse® products
New from progression, iPulse analyzers can be mounted directly over a conveyor belt at a mine or power plant to measure coal quality including sulfur, mercury, and other trace elements in real-time. Using LIBS technology, these analyzers can measure most elements to ppm levels.
